A fine early 18th century walnut bureau cabinet. The top has two
doors with raised and fielded panels; the interior fitted with pigeon holes and
drawers; well moulded cornice; carrying handles; with the usual feature of a
sliding tray at the bottom. The base with a cross-banded and herringbone
inlay fall with two long and two short drawers below two small counter drawers
with a "secret" drawer accessed from the well in the interior. The interior
is well-fitted with pigeon holes and drawers and a central cupboard; the two
columns either side of the door concealing 2 secret drawers. In excellent condition throughout and of good colour and patination. George II period, circa 1735 38ins w x 22.5ins d x 85ins h (96.5 x 37 x 219cm)
